260 Miles for Opportunity

Join Jack Bowerman

Jack Bowerman and his father, Bret will set out for a 10-day, 260-mile run from NYC to Washington, D.C. to advocate for equal employment rights for people with disabilities. This powerful journey supports the Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act (TCIEA)—a crucial bill with broad bi-partisan support to end subminimum wages allowed under the 1938 Fair Labor Standards Act and create fair, integrative workplaces.

Goal: Raise $100,000 to fund a Day on the Hill lobbying effort, bringing this issue directly to lawmakers.

Why? Inspired by Ellie, his sister @downwithellie, Jack is taking action to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, has the right to a fair wage and meaningful career opportunities.

How? We've partnered with the National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC), a national nonprofit focused on serving the Down syndrome community.  NDSC will use the money we raise to organize a "Day on the Hill" to lobby the passage of the TCIEA. It is a multi-day event bringing together families, professionals, and people with disabilities to learn, connect and inspire change on Capitol Hill. Includes training on TCIEA and other relevant policy along with advocacy best practices so all participants make an impact during meetings with their representatives.
