Surf Your Heart Out!

I am taking the 100 Wave Challenge by attempting to catch 100 waves in ONE DAY and raise $1,000 for a remarkable organization called Boys to Men Mentoring.

"For a Kook like me, 100 waves is going to be a tall order to achieve, but I am accepting this challenge because I believe in what Boys to Men is doing. I have been a mentor for over 2 years, I have had hard conversations with boys about things I never would expect an 11 or 12 year old to have to deal with. In the world they live in they have no real understanding of what a good man is, many do not have a father in their lives, no real role model and no one to challenge them to work hard for the goals they have set. It shocked me when I was told by a boy that a 1.8 GPA was doing good in school. Over the course of 5 months this same boy bumped his grade up to a 3.2 just with someone in his court challenging him to do better. I cannot explain enough the value of what I have seen in Boys to Men and what they are doing in the community with at-risk boys."

Boys to Men Mentoring (BTM) is a group mentoring program working to connect hundreds of teenage boys to positive male role models they can depend on. BTM programs include weekly, in-school group mentoring, retreat weekends, beach trips, and other activities all geared to improve each boy's overall self-esteem, critical thinking skills, and self-accountability.

Please consider making a donation to my page or my team of lifeguards and help us support these young men who are working to be the best they can be!

Thank you for your support.

More About Boys to Men

NO BACKGROUND JPEG.jpg

When Boys to Men Mentoring began in 1996, the devastation of fatherlessness on our community fueled their desire to support fatherless teenage boys as they transitioned into adulthood. A boy without a dad in his life is disproportionately more likely to drop out of high school, end up in prison, and commit suicide. Since then, BTM has grown to provide weekly mentorship to teenage boys from all walks of life looking for positive men empower them to be the best they can be.

Today, BTM facilitates weekly group mentoring at over 36 middle and high schools across San Diego County for over 800 teenage boys. To learn more, please visit www.boystomen.org.
