On Saturday, September 23rd, hundreds of surfers will jump in the water for the 8th year to take the 100 Wave Challenge. These ambitious surfers are going to catch 100 waves in ONE DAY, because they are dedicated to helping grow the Boys to Men program.
Boys to Men Mentoring is a non-profit that provides group-mentoring programs for fatherless and high-risk teenage boys at middle schools, high schools and in open community meetings. Group meetings with a community of men that volunteer their time to just to listen, and a place where the boys can interact with other boys just like them.
Because of Boys to Men, these boys no longer feel alone.
73% of the boys in this program are growing up without a father. Boys who participate in the Boys to Men program show a significant increase in their self-esteem. As a result of this one factor, their grades improve, they have less discipline issues at home and school, and their dropout rates are dramatically reduced.
With the money raised from the 100 Wave Challenge, Boys to Men holds 38 weekly meetings in San Diego alone -- in 28 schools with 38 in-school programs, 1 after-school program and 3 evening programs, and serve more than 800 boys. But Boys to Men Mentoring needs to be in every middle school in the country.
Every dollar you donate helps -- Thank you from all of the boys!
