In March of 2017 my world was changed in more ways than one. I became a mom for the first time as well as a preeclampsia survivor. I had to deliver my son five weeks early due to my blood pressure rising and not responding to medicine to bring it down and stabilize it. His birth was very traumatic for me and almost 6 years later I still struggle with parts of it. I am one of the lucky ones though because I survived and so did my baby. He is now almost 6 years old, super smart and growing like a weed. In 2019 preeclampsia hit me again with my second pregnancy. It wasn't as bad as the first time but this time it was also begnning to affect my unborn baby girl. She was becoming growth restricted. When she was delivered at 37 weeks she was only 4 pounds and 11 ounces, but otherwise healthy. I've made it my mission to educate mothers of the pregnancy and postpartum complication becasue so many don't know if it or if they do, they aren't aware of how dangerous it really can be. Preeclampsia also leaves the mother at a greater risk of heart problems and stroke later in life.
