When I was 30 weeks pregnant I noticed my blood pressure starting to increase. As a Physician Assistant in primary care I was very fortunate to be able to monitor my blood pressure every day during my pregnancy. As soon as I noticed the blood pressure start to rise, I notified my OBGYN. She ordered labs and sure enough they were positive for preeclampsia. I was immediately sent to the emergency room and admitted with severe preeclampsia. I later delivered my son, Jack, at 32 weeks by emergency c section. After a month long stay in the NICU he was able to go home and is now doing fantastic.

I feel so fortunate that I was able to monitor my blood pressure throughout my pregnancy and notify my OBGYN as soon as I noticed the change in blood pressure. That is why I am running 140 miles over 90 days starting 2/1/23. Every Mama deserves the same ability to monitor her blood pressure for her own health.
