It was the end of August I started having sever mid right back pain along with vomiting and nausea. During this time I was in contact with the OB. They told me to take Tylenol and continue with my physical therapy.
This being my first pregnancy I was unaware of what was normal and what wasn't. I had very little to no morning sickness during my first and seond trimesters, so for this sickness just to come on I thought it was odd.
Another week went on of feeling awful. Over the weekend I had wrote the OB telling them my symptoms again and I felt worse. I started urinating blood. They said to come in right away the next morning.
I was seen at the OB my blood pressure was high and protein was showing up in my urine. They sent me to the hospital to Labor and Delivery. They started to wonder if I had a kidney stone. After running more test the labs were showing signs of Pre-eclampsia and Hellp Syndrome. Two things I had never heard of. The OB handed me a brochure. She told me I would be having my baby by the end of the day and that I would need to be lifeflighted out to Medford OR where the hospital could accommodate myself and our baby.
I was 31 weeks and 2 days and had an emergency c-section that evening. I was in the hospital for 5 days. Our son was in the NICU for 25 days.
My hope is for parents to never have to leave their baby behind at the hospital.
On September 8th 2021 my life changed. I am incredibly grateful to be here today and blessed that our son was saved.
This February through April I have my goal set to walk the 140 miles in 90 days.
Help me bring awareness and raise money that goes to the Pre-eclampsia Foundation . My blood pressure with Pre-eclampsia was 164/206, along with all the other terrible things that come along with Pre-eclampsia and Hellp Syndrome. It took me 8 months to get off of the High Blood Pressure medication after the birth of our son.
