I am taking the 100 Wave Challenge for Boys to Men in order to support their efforts to bring positive male mentorship to hundreds of young men in San Diego County.
Boys to Men Mentoring is a nonprofit organization faciliating consistent group mentoring for hundreds of fatherless, at-risk, and disconnected teenage boys in San Diego County.
In San Diego County alone, there are 49,937 boys growing up in homes without fathers, and a boy without a dad in his life is 20 times more likely to end up in prison. Fatherless children are more than twice as likely to commit suicide, and 71% of high school dropouts come from a fatherless background. BTM creates communities of mentors for boys who often have no positive male role models. Your support allows them to break the devastating cycle of fatherlessness for hundreds of teenage boys who are working to change their lives for the better.
There is nothing more powerful than giving a person a community of support and the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. I hope to do that this year by attempting to catch 100 waves in one day to raise money and awareness for Boys to Men.
