This will be my 6th year participating in this event as well the surf clubs. Being a firefighter, it is our job to help those in need, and that's what this organization does and that's why we want to help. Before I had graduated high school I had moved eighteen times. Even though my parents had split at a young age, they did their absolute best to stay involved in my life and provide the best environment possible. There are so many youths that don't have parents, stability at home, or role models. This organization fills that gap for so many boys in need of just that. Help us by donating so this organization can continue to make a positive influence on so many for years to come. As the President of the department surf club I have started a team of fellow San Diego firefighters that will join me and individually catch 100 waves in an effort to raise money. I myself am going to donate 1 dollar per wave. I encourage you to donate, what ever the amount may be. But also come down to the beach to enjoy a beautiful day and support everyone involved. 100 Wave Challenge: Saturday, September 28, 2024
I am taking the 100 Wave Challenge on Saturday, September 28th at Mission Beach benefiting Boys to Men Mentoring (B2M). The funds we raise together will support B2M's efforts to bring positive male mentorship to hundreds of young men in San Diego County.
Boys to Men Mentoring is a nonprofit organization facilitating consistent group mentoring for the fatherless, at-risk, and disconnected teenage boys of San Diego County. Through strategic partnerships with local middle schools, high schools, and community partner locations, Boys to Men connects teenage boys with compassionate mentors who provide the encouragement, empowerment, and accountability they need to thrive.
There is nothing more powerful than surrounding a young man with a community of support and giving him the opportunity to reach his fullest potential. I hope to do that this year by attempting to catch 100 waves in one day to raise money and awareness for Boys to Men.
