Hi I'm Vicki and I'm asking you to please consider donating to This fundraiser I'm participating in for Epilepsy. This horrible illness has negatively effected my life not only by taking away my independence such as driving and not being able to work, but it has taken a toll on my body, my brain, my memory, my emotional and mental health as well as my personality. I'm not even sure when or how my epilepsy began. Most people believe that you are born with epilepsy, but that is a myth. I was a healthy 27 year old at work and it was my birthday. I got up and next thing I knew I was being loaded into an ambulance. I had a tonic clonic (grand mal) seizure. After a 2 week hospital stay, dozens of tests and thousands of dollars worth of hospital bills I was left with a misdiagnosis. I was still having multiple seizures a day for months. Finally after continuing years of this unbearable lifestyle I was finally diagnosed with epilepsy. It is common to be misdiagnosed with a different disease when your true diagnosis is epilepsy because it is the leading number one brain neurological disease including Multiple Sclerosis along with many others that has the least funding. As of today, even after taking my 14 pills a day I occasionally have tonic clonic seizures as well as newly having focal awareness seizures. These burdens are not only a struggle for me but also for my family. I am completely dependent on others for rides for everywhere, even to take my daughter to and from school.
