I will be running 100km throughout the month of October to help raise awareness for epilepsy. Being diagnosed with epilepsy just a few days before turning 20 years old, I want to share my story and bring light to this neurological disorder. There are many false narratives about what epilepsy is and how it effects the 1 in 100 people living with it across Canada, stereotypes that proper education and awareness can address. I am also running 100km this month for the those still struggling to find a medication that can help control their seizures. After 5 years and dozens of medications that didn't work, I was lucky enough, through intensive testing and support from Toronto Western Hospital, to be apart of the small % of people eligible to undergo brain surgery to stop my seizures. I'm now 1 year and 8 months post surgery and living seizure free. My wish is that everyone who lives with this horrible disorder can stop worrying when their next seizure will be and are able to live their life. Lets cure this b***** !!!!
