As many of you know, epilepsy is a condition that has touched my life personally. At 17 years old, without warning or family history, I had my first seizure. It took years before I finally had answers, and while I’ve learned how to manage it, I still live with seizures today.
The challenges are undeniable, the unpredictability of seizures, the fear of when one might happen, and the toll it takes on me and my family. I can’t deny that there have been moments of frustration, loss, and feeling different from everyone else.
But epilepsy has also given me lessons I might not have learned otherwise. It’s taught me resilience, the strength to get back up after every seizure. It’s taught me self-compassion, to be kinder to myself when things don’t go as planned. It’s taught me truth, to live honestly and accept who I am, even when it’s hard. And it’s taught me love, the unconditional love of family and friends who stand by me through it all.
I’m grateful because although I have this condition, I lead a very normal life. Many can’t.
Every dance step I take through this challenge is for the 1 in 100 Canadians who live with epilepsy, including me. By donating, you’ll be helping move research forward and bringing hope to thousands across Canada.
Whether it’s $10, $25, or more, your support means the world to me. Together we can make a difference, one step at a time.
Thank you,
Pam
