When I lost my job this summer, I decided that I wanted to work for a non-profit agency where the focus would be on how we can help our clients rather than on how we can make the most money from our clients. When I started working for Fraser, my very first client was desperately in need of ARMHS services to avoid homelessness, but his insurance company was taking issue with paying for the diagnostic assessment he needed to start ARMHS. Fraser's response to that was to eat the cost of doing the diagnostic assessment so that the client could get the services he needed when he needed them. So when Fraser asked me to run Grandma's Marathon on June , 2016 as part of Team Fraser to raise support and awareness for Minnesota families affected by autism (and advertise for the company), I proudly said, "Heck, yeah!" and signed right up. Then I saw that part of being on Team Fraser is asking for donations to raise money to provide our non-profit services, and like most people, I felt some dread about having to ask people I know for money and wondered if I could get away with doing the running part but not doing the fund-raising part. But then I thought about it some more and realized that the reason why we can make client needs such a high priority and do things like eat the cost of a diagnostic assessment is because we have people in the community donating money to our organization. So I have decided to do my best to actually raise some money for this organization that I know does good things for both its clients and its staff.
By making a gift to support my fundraising efforts, you are helping create countless bright futures for children and adults with autism. Together, we can truly make a difference!
