Society dictates we wait 12 weeks before announcing a pregnancy. Doctor's caution that the likelihood of a miscarriage will go down after 12 weeks. It's your secret, for 12 weeks.
What you don't hear about often is even though the pregnancy lasted less than 12 weeks, it still hurts like hell when it ends.
11 weeks and 6 days we went in for the second ultrasound. The nurse told us the baby did not have a heartbeat.
My baby never had a little nose, or legs. That doesn't mean I loved it any less.
For several weeks I carried a secret. A secret I thought about constantly. I thought about how I would tell my family and friends. I was excited and nervous and feeling relieved for everyone to know.
Now the secret has changed. Some people in my life may never know that for a few short weeks I carried a baby inside my womb and now I will carry it forever in my heart.
We will walk on September 16 for my baby and for all mothers of angels because motherhood begins well before 12 weeks of pregnancy.
