On Sunday, June 9, I will participate in the 4th Annual Bleeding Disorders Walk and 5K Fun Run to support the bleeding disorders community in the Rochester region. All proceeds from this event go directly to supporting patient programs and services throughout the year.
HEMOPHILIA and BLEEDING DISORDERS CARE
Founded in 1959 by visionary Rochester native Mary Gooley, the Center is celebrating 60 years of service to the area bleeding disorders community. It is the only Hemophilia Treatment Center in the Rochester region, and also cares for patients with other bleeding disorders such as Von Willebrand disease. Over the years, we have seen amazing advances in medical technology transform bleeding disorders from a devastating condition causing severe disability and hardship to one that has become very manageable with the right treatments and medications. However, there is still a long way to go. Hemophilia, Von Willebrand and other bleeding disorders are one of the most expensive medical conditions to treat and patients still face many obstacles to care.
WHAT MAKES THE MARY M. GOOLEY CENTER SPECIAL
The Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center has gained national attention because of its comprehensive care model that goes beyond just simply treating the medical condition. This model includes: education, advocacy, counseling, life assistance, home care training and health counseling. The Center also participates in several national research endeavors aimed at improving the lives of people with bleeding disorders.
I hope you join me to support the Upstate New York bleeding disorders community with a generous donation. Thank you!
