We're raising money for our favorite organization, SBAK! Rory is four-years-old and is rocking it with spina bifida. SBAK helps our family in so many ways. We love our play pals group, which gives parents the opportunity to learn and chat while the kiddos play. SBAK hosts a summer pool party, pumpkin patch visit, Christmas party, and Easter egg hunt. We attend the SBAK conference to connect with other families and learn vital information to keep Rory healthy and advocate for her. This year we went to family camp where the kids did archery, swimming, fishing, and horseback riding. We also participated in a day at Berrytown Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation Center where the kids played wheelchair basketball, tennis and kickball.

Not only are these fun events for that day, but they also connect us with important resources that allow Rory to participate in the future. We started swim lessons at Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center after visiting there for an SBAK event. Since the event at Berrytown, Rory hasn’t stopped asking about when she can play tennis and basketball.

I could go on and on about what SBAK provides for us and other families. SBAK visited us in the hospital shortly after Rory was born, and they try to do this with every spina bifida family in Kentucky. There’s no way that I could have known then what an amazing organization we were lucky enough to have been born into. Please help contribute to their incredible work.

We’re not going to be able to be present at the walk in Louisville this year, but we’re still going to participate with a virtual walk, and we hope that you can do the same. Rory is obsessed with Mary Poppins at the moment; hence our team name this year. We’ll be ordering shirts, closer to the event. I’d love to see pics everyone’s “Step In Time with Rory” shirts on social media on September 28.
