I'm running with Team Club Kid at the 2020 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend and every mile will help children see how far they'll go!
Let's help children see how far they'll go.
My name is Ximena and this is my story,
My grandmother Teté gave me bread so I could feed the pigeons while we where in the rooftop as she hanged up the laundry.
I was six years old when I learned how much I could help modify other’s flying abilities while our bond grew stronger.
While my parents worked she would take care of me, and at that same age she saw me volunteer at an orphanage.
She took me to my first movie ever and together we saw “The Jungle Book”. I’ve been a Disney fan ever since and I’ve never missed a single movie since then.
Beyond her being like a mother to me, she was in fact my friend and confidant, with endless patience and love towards me.
She left to join the stars one April afternoon, shortly after Moana’s theatrical release. I was no more than 20 minutes into the movie and I was all ready bawling my eyes out and wanting to get a ray tattoo so my grandma could keep on guiding me.
I’ve tried to keep her alive through my everyday actions. She would always have a chocolate tucked away to give someone for a rainy day.
Now from my corner of the world I’ve decided to do something to help others.
I’m an actress, with a career spanning over two decades and 9 years ago a friend and I started non-profit to help kids from underprivileged paths of life to enrich their life’s and find their own strengths through the arts, with singing, acting and dance lessons. It takes a lot of hard work, but this formula has proven to be a successful one.
In all this years I’ve also found that through exercise I have new ways of expressing myself, strengthening myself and relieving myself from stress.
This past February I had the good fortune of running the fairy tale challenge and it was the experience of a lifetime. So naturally when I heard about next year’s 5k race being presented by Moana I didn’t have to think it twice, I knew I wanted to do it.
It represented many of my passions weaving themselves into a dream, but when I found out the bib where sold out I was sad, and angry at the Universe.
My birthday is a week after the race and I had thought running it could be my best birthday present. My prayers where answered when a friend of mine told me there was still a chance for me to be a part of it, through the one of the charities working alongside RunDisney.
When I found out I could still be a part of this event and in doing so I would also be helping other I broke down in tears, tears of happiness.
A good action becomes a greater one.
It’s a way of strengthening what I all ready do here in Mexico City, but now it goes bigger by helping other outside, by joining the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida and in doing so help them in their noble cause.
It’s to multiply the magic. To share what I’ve learned helped me become a better human being.
It is as if my grandmother Teté would have planed it all from the cloud up in Heaven.
That’s why it means so much to me to run this race and therefore I ask for your help.
To help me plant the seed of a better future and raise the necessary means so the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida can help children have bigger, better, stronger futures.
This race has turned into an unexpected event full of new possibilities.
I wish to run it and in doing so to celebrate life and the memory of my beloved ray who still guides me, in spirit .
This isn’t just a race anymore. This is my grandmother guiding my steps so I can be someone else’s chocolate for a rainy day.
In some ways it’s going back to that rooftop and feeding those bird. It’s helping other so they can fly.
SO... That's why I'm running at the 2020 Disney Princess Half Maraton Weekend with Team Club Kid — to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida and make a difference in the lives of the children who need us most. Every dollar raised will directly support our Club members in Osceola County.
Join me in making that difference! You will help make my miles matter by raising awareness and funds for a nonprofit with a mission to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
Thank you for helping me, thank you for being that someoneelse's chocolate for a rainy day. THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME HELP OTHERS FLY.
