Let's Make Justice Real Together
Income inequality and systemic racism were huge problems in the District before the pandemic, and they remain so today. Legal Aid’s client community continues to face stubbornly high unemployment (12% in majority-Black Ward 8 versus under 4% in majority-white Wards 2 and 3) amid rapidly rising costs for basic needs (7.3% inflation), even as evictions and other cases are once again proceeding in the District. Every year, thousands of DC residents need a lawyer to help with their civil legal problems, but can't afford one.
That's why we, as a firm, are coming together to support DC Legal Aid and the Making Justice Real Campaign. Legal Aid is DC's oldest and largest civil legal services program, serving thousands of individual clients annually while working to reform the systems that cause so many of our neighbors to end up in court in the first place. This year:
- Every $390 we raise staffs a Legal Aid attorney for a day
- Every $1,950 we raise staffs a Legal Aid attorney for a week
Please help us meet our team goal for this year's Making Justice Real Campaign. We can make sure that our neighbors in DC get the legal help they need, when they need it.
