I’m raising money to support the Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism. I’m pumped to have the opportunity to run the NYC marathon, which supports the Flutie Foundation and other admirable charities.
This is my second marathon, and I’m running for an organization that has a special connection to me.
My brother, Sam, is autistic. Sam is blessed with caregivers and volunteers who support him on a daily basis, and work to make the most of his abilities. This includes my parents, his group home staff, caregivers, doctors, teachers, and many others. I’m inspired by these people and other organizations who serve people like Sam. The Flutie Foundation is a fantastic organization that helps people impacted by autism get the resources they need to live life to the fullest.
I’m a Boston College alum and always admired Doug Flutie. Everyone knows Doug for his legendary “Hail Mary” pass. Fewer people know his son, Dougie Jr, is autistic, and Doug started a foundation to help people and families with autism. I met Doug before running the 2017 Boston Marathon, and began to learn more about the Flutie Foundation. I hope to one day have a similar impact helping the autistic community.
