Halie is a 14 year old very bubbly and smiley (not-so-little-anymore) girl! More than that, she's my hero.
At 14 months old, Halie was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and Opsoclonus Myoclonus Syndrome. The month prior to her diagnosis, Halie rapidly declined and lost all mobility, speech, and fine motor skills. To say the journey ahead would be a tough one was the udnerstatement of a lifetime. we have a lot of medical history accumulated during the years. Halie went through active tretments for 4 years before relapsing with her OMS 4 years ago. She has been off treatments for 3 years now and thriving!
We would have never made it this far without the support of our family, friends, community, ASK Foundation, and of course Halie for always being so postive and carrying herself with such grace and hope through the years.
ASK made sitting in a hospital recliner for 5+ hours seem fun for Halie. It wasn't easy work, but that's the magic of what they do. Endless popsicles, colorful bandaids, arts and crafts galore, tons of board games and volunteers to play with, blankets, meal tickets, treasure box, and tablets- ALL of that and more. They give our families a bit of "normal" when we can't even remember what that is.
