William is an 11-year-old with Severe Hemophilia A, with an inhibitor. He is in the 5th grade at Union Academy Charter School. At Union Academy (UA) he currently serves on the 5th Grade Student Council, the 5th Grade Advisory, FFA/4-H Clubs, Teens for Christ and currently is in the UA Theatre ensemble of “Beauty & the Beast”. Music is his love, and he is also scheduled to attend the UA Theatre Camp in June in “Frozen”.
He has suffered with spontaneous bleeds since he was born. He is blessed to be a patient of St. Jude Affiliate Clinic at Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital, Charlotte. Due to his immune deficiency caused by hemophilia treatments, he receives infusions every three weeks to keep him healthy. He also receives a Hemlibra Shot each week to control his bleeds. In the last 12 months he has had tooth/mouth bleeds; once hospitalized him for seven days with an active mouth bleed; and recently had surgery to remove the seven remaining baby teeth to help prevent future major mouth bleeds.
