The Bleeding Disorders Foundation of North Carolina has been an indispensable support for our family since Noah was born. As you probably know, Noah was unexpectedly diagnosed with hemophilia after his circumcision didn't stop bleeding when he was just a day old. While hemophilia is a genetic disorder, we had no family history of hemophilia, so the diagnosis came as a shock. 

We found Hemophilia of North Carolina - which is now called the Bleeding Disorders Foundation of North Carolina - and they helped us through those really scary days and even months after Noah was born. We were connected with other families who also had children with hemophilia, we were invited to attend all of their educational and support programs, which are free to attend, and Noah received his first MedicAlert bracelet from Hemophilia of North Carolina. The support we received was helpful in helping all of us learn about living with hemophilia. Karl and I received support as parents, Riley received support as a sibling, and Noah has become friends with other kids who have hemophilia like him.

Besides all the support our family continues to receive, the Bleeding Disorders Foundation of North Carolina advocates to ensure that everyone with a bleeding disorder has access to healthcare and health insurance. Noah's medication costs more than $30,000 per month, and without health insurance and other programs to help with those costs, Noah's life would be so much different.

We support the Bleeding Disorders Foundation of North Carolina's mission to improve the quality of life of persons affected by bleeding disorders through advocacy, education, promotion of research, and delivery of supportive programs and services.
