Alonzo Montanya has corageously committed to completing the 2023 Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 8th to raise awareness of First Responder suicide.
Alonzo has dedicated his life to protecting and serving. With an 18-year career in law enforcement, he is now a full-time Deputy Sherriff in Dutchess County, NY.
Also a seasoned marathon runner, Alonzo has completed the NYC marathon the past two years. He states, "This marathon will be a bit different for me though because it’s more about the cause than the race". Alonzo explains that he understands what it's like to struggle with mental health, as multiple First Responder suicides have recently impacted his friends and co-workers, and says that he is very fortunate to be where he is today. "I know others aren’t as lucky which is why I want to help out our Blue Family/First Family".
