In 2019, Matt and I were expected our first child after a long, terrible experience with infertility. After all of the hardship and heartbreak, my pregnancy had gone fairly quietly until I got to my 36 week checkup. The nurse frowned at my blood pressure reading, 139 over 89 - which while not "classic" hypertension, was extremely high for me. Thankfully she knew me and she and my Ob took it seriously.
After a few back-and-forth checks at the hospital, it was decided that we needed to induce. Thankfully, my delivery was a beautiful, peaceful experience twith providers who took my hypertension seriously. Everything resolved after delivery, but I was carefully monitored. Adelaide is now a healthy, lively 3-year-old! And her younger brother Zander joined us last year (also at 37 weeks after preterm labor at 34 weeks and the start of high blood pressure readings!).
