As part of Regions’ long-term commitment to financial education, we are building on our support of Junior Achievement of Alabama (JA) in 2023 and their efforts to connect students with essential money-management skills. 

JA is a nonprofit whose purpose is to prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. The last three years were among the most challenging years for JA ever. Yet through it all, the staff adapted and persevered and not only did JA survive, but they also thrived! With 22,000 students reached in 2020-21 and more than 32,000 reached this past school year, JA exceeded pre-Covid student reach. This was made possible because of the support of Regions associates. At a time when teachers and educators could easily say no to outside programs due to learning loss and lingering uncertainty, they did not say no to JA. In fact, teachers are saying yes more than ever before. In 2022-23, JA will reach more than 34,000 students across Alabama.

In 2022, Birmingham-area Regions associates volunteered to deliver JA programs to more than 200 students. Also in 2022, 250 associates helped raise more than $116,000 through the Bowling Classic. This is the single highest one-year total by one company in JA history. This money stays in Birmingham and funds JA programs in financial education, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship in our local schools.

The Bowling Classic is a fundraising event where Regions associates come together to raise money for JA programs in a fun, teambuilding atmosphere.
