Hi! My name is Olivia Gao and I am a sixth grade student at Veritas Christian Academy. This is my first year at Veritas, but it already surprises me how great this school is. In Veritas, you learn about interesting topics, explore God's word and learn how to become a fabulous leader. Our five core values that spell out TRUTH (Veritas means truth) are:

In the beginning of the year, middle school got to go on a retreat to a place called Camp Hume. It is a Christian retreat camp where you get to pause all the homework and tests and get a break. There was archery, canoeing and lots of other fun activities to do. At the end of May, we get to go on another retreat to Acadia, which I am really looking forward to. This year, middle school is also practising for a play called Honk, which is a really funny play that tells the story of The Ugly Duckling.
In class, we also get to do some fun activities such as Vinco, which is Latin Bingo. You get a candy if you get bingo. In science, we were learning about the moon, and we got oreos to represent each of the moon phases. It was a fun activity but my favourite part was eating them!
Some of the teachers at Veritas are humorous while others are strict, but either way, they’re both nice. Since Veritas is a smaller school, teachers get to know students individually. For tests and quizzes, even if you get a really sucky score, you can do corrections and get some of the points back. At the end of the day, there are clubs and lessons at the school like guitar class and Bible study.
On Thursdays, we have Chapel, where we all have to wear this specific uniform to go to the chapel to sing about God and worship him. There is also usually a fun game we play at Chapel such as Minute to Win it and Four Square. Then, the teachers and sometimes the students come up to the stage and talk about their experiences with God and how we can improve our character through Christ. Finally, we end Chapel with a prayer.
In Veritas, we allow visitors to come and see what the school has to offer. I once visited with my twin. At first, we didn’t like it. People were jumping in trash cans and throwing candy at each other. But, once you get to know them, they’re actually quite nice. People at Veritas are nicer than people at public schools because we are all Christians and therefore know what is right and wrong through Christ. If you are not a Christian yet, we hope to help you become one and trust me, your life will change COMPLETELY. And that’s in a good way.
So, to sum everything up, you should really donate money to our school. Our school is an amazing place but we need your help to make it an even better school. May the grace of the Lord be with you. Amen.
Hello, I'm Kristina Gao and I am a first year student at Veritas. I really enjoy my time at school because my peers and teachers are so kind and understanding. In Veritas I realised that through their faith in God, the students are compassionate and caring while they work hard. The teachers push their students but also know how to have fun. The school has an atmosphere that is an amazing combination of hard work, love and excellence.
