Why I am Participating:

Born in the Show Me State under the sign of Aries in the Generation of X, and raised in the Heartland, authenticity, and tenacity are my bedrock. I relied on these traits to see me through my own breast cancer diagnosis in 2019. Now three years in my rearview mirror, I’m proud to represent Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation as a 2023 Sole Star.

My diagnosis has brought me joy and a more rewarding life answering the call to live each day to the fullest and help people all along the way. I relish in good times and good people and live by “work hard and be kind.” I’ve set my roots in Richmond, Virginia, and have been fortunate to be afforded many personal and professional growth opportunities in this wonderfully caring and creative community we call RVA. 

I spend my days leading advertising production efforts for a creative studio called SuperJoy. I can’t help but recognize the irony of landing here after I completed treatment. I believe in balance and spend as much time as possible with the people who matter the most to me, most importantly, my husband and two children.  In my free time, I’m in my nemesis and savior, my garden. Here’s to hoping that tenacity will help me to tame it, one day…

…Until then I’ll happily work tirelessly to beautify my little plot of dirt just as I work to raise funds and awareness in support of all those touched by breast cancer.
