My name is Darren and I am the Head Coach for The Richmond Kickers professional soccer team in Richmond, Virginia. I have traveled the world as a professional soccer player, and I currently travel the world as a professional soccer coach.
People from all parts of the world, and all walks of life, suffer and fight through Breast Cancer. This disease has touched me on multiple levels with the most recent being my wife's battle with the disease this year. Mywife Ginny is an amazing, thoughtful, intelligent, loving person that has taken on this disease like a hunter on a mission in the wilderness. For me, life is about people and each person offers so much to each person they meet. No person should have to fight this battle in the vast unknown without the help of others. I am here to help Ginny fight, and I am here to help anyone in this situation come out of the unknown victorious.

What is a Sole Star?
The Sole Stars campaign engages leaders in our communities as representatives in the fight against breast cancer. During the month-long campaign, each Sole Star will raise or give a minimum of $1,000, which will be used to support the work of the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (VBCF.) The money raised through the Richmond Sole Stars campaign will help pay for breast health services like diagnostic mammograms, MRIs, ultrasounds and biopsies for uninsured and underinsursed women in the greater Richmond region.
Sole (noun): the undersurface of a shoe; the sole is meant to provide footwear with the necessary support, giving traction and protection from the surfaces it will be in contact with.
Star (noun): a celebrated, prominent or distinguished person; synonym: VIP · (very) important person.
VBCF Sole Star (noun): a very important person providing support for our mission to eradicate breast cancer by raising awareness and funds in their community and providing traction for our mission; willing to have fun while wearing awesome pink shoes!!
