I will be running the Berlin Marathon this September as a BellRunner because I have witnessed first hand how important The Bell Center (TBC) is for children in need of early intervention. My son, Henry, had delays in communication and was barely saying ten words at 2 years old. His behavior began to worsen, issues in school arose, and we weren't sure how to help our son.  After an evaluation was done, it was clear we needed help. We began services with Henry several months after his evaluation, and we are so thankful for the year he got to attend and grow from TBC. Shortly after our start at TBC, Henry received a diagnosis of Mixed Expressive-Receptive Language Disorder, and his intervention became even more focused. Working with the Speech Therapist Henry's communication improved drastically. The behavioral therapist there worked with Henry and helped us work through behavioral issues that came because of his frustration in inability to commmunicate. We, as parents, were given practical strategies we still use today to build a more positive relationship with our child and help him through the times of struggle. Everyone in that center who had contact with Henry impacted his and our lives and we cannot think of a a better place to help. Our only regret is not knowing about the services of TBC sooner, and it has become our hope to make others aware of this organization and the benefits it can provide to kids like Henry, or like David, who I am running for this year.
