Hey everyone! My name is Melissa Lynch and I have to decided to run my first half marathon. I currently teach middle school English in Maryland. Although I recently moved here, my heart still belongs to Foxborough, MA – the place where I grew up cheering on the Patriots. After those exciting years, I traded the crisp New England autumns for the sunshine of the University of Tampa for college.
Now, I'm embarking on a brand new adventure: my very first half marathon!
Running a half marathon has always been on my bucket list, but I wanted to make this challenge more meaningful than just a personal accomplishment. That's why I'm incredibly excited to be running for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism!
As a teacher, I understand the importance of providing opportunities for all students to thrive. The Flutie Foundation truly embodies this mission by supporting individuals and families impacted by autism.
About the Foundation
The Foundation, now in its 25th year, tackles the financial hurdles that can prevent access to crucial services for individuals with autism. They believe, as I do, that everyone deserves the chance to reach their full potential, regardless of their ability to pay.
These innovative and transformative interventions are expensive, and the Flutie Foundation works tirelessly to bridge the gap. Their commitment to removing barriers – economic, cultural, and geographic – inspires me to push my own limits on the race course.
