On October 13, 2024, I will be running the 46th Bank of America Chicago Marathon for my 6th year in a row. Continuing to be insprired by the mission of Camp One Step, I am excited to join Team One Step again! Over the last 5 years, I've raised a total of $8,040 for this amazing charity- that means I've sent 8 kids to camps!
Team One Step supports Camp One Step Children's Oncology Services, an organization that operates camps and other recreational and educational experiences for children who have been diagnosed with cancer. One Step programs aim to cure the spirit by providing an environment of hope, strength, and empowerment. Building off the experiences of the last couple of years, Camp One Step has expanded to offer virtual camps so now they can serve more children than ever before- even if they are in their hospital beds or other countries! Camp One Step programs also cater to siblings of kids who have cancer. Sometimes, the siblings of children with complicated medical conditions and treatments are left on the sideline and suffer in different ways than the child with cancer. The fun all of these kids have at Camp One Step is real and the memories they make are better than the ones they have from hospital stays, chemotherapy, spinal taps and blood transfusions or watching their sibling fight the fight of their lives.
A child is diagnosed with cancer every two minutes. Consider taking the next two minutes to join me in donating to help make camp a reality for even more children next summer.
