We're back! 3-Peat! For the 3rd straight year, I'm running in the Chicago Marathon in support of Camp One Step.
Camp One Step is a summer camp that empowers children diagnosed with cancer and their families!
Our team at ESPN Milwaukee & WTMJ has supported Camp One Step for several years now. 2022 was the first year that I ran as a part of Team One Step. Having visited Camp a handful of times, I knew the comfortable, family atmosphere that exists there, especially with and from the kids! Throughout the fundraising process, I worked closely with Jill from Camp, but had never met her in person. When I arrived in Chicago for the race, she gave me the biggest hug and informed me that an large anonymous donation had come in as a result of a radio interview we did a week prior with Team One Step Captain Brian Kelly. That was everything.
Team One Step supports Camp One Step by Children's Oncology Services, an organization that operates camps and other recreational and educational experiences for children who have been diagnosed with cancer. One Step Programs aim to cure the spirit by providing an environment of hope, strength, and empowerment. During the pandemic, Camp One Step pivoted to offer virtual camps so now they can serve more children than ever before- even in their hospital beds.
