We're raising money for Lexington Habitat for Humanity!

Social Justice teaching of the Catholic Church tells us “All human life is sacred, and all people have inherent equality and dignity before God.” Catholics should prioritize the poor and vulnerable, as Jesus did during His time on earth.

At Christ the King Cathedral, we are concerned with social justice teaching and understand the urgency and seriousness in performing the corporal works of mercy.  The seven corporal works are etched into the glass as you enter the Cathedral. In the Catechism 2447, we read about the works of mercy and included in those is the command to shelter the homeless.

This year, for the first time since 2017, CTK will be participating in the Habitat for Humanity Catholic Build. This build’s corporate sponsor will be CHI/St. Joseph Healthcare, who was excited to partner with other Catholic Churches within the Lexington Deanery.  CHI/St Joseph has committed the first $20,000. It is up to the other parishes in the deanery to raise the remaining $50,000. That is where you come in!

The resurrected Habitat for Humanity Ministry, led by Ginny Huntress, is asking each parishioner to commit time and talent to see this mission to completion. Please continue to follow updates and progress in both our email blasts and bulletins in the upcoming months.
