Commitment to Justice Award Reception
Join the Center for Heirs' Property Preservation on Thursday, September 5th at 5:30 PM, to honor Mrs. Cecelia Gordon Rogers with the “Danielle Hope Watson Commitment to Justice” Award. We cordially invite you to be a part of our Road to Twenty years as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation® in 2025.
Mrs. Rogers has an extensive background in community building, providing access to education, and serving as a mentor. Mrs. Rogers has made service and education her life’s mission. Her pursuit of equity and justice began early as she participated in the sit ins in 1960, with a group of fellow Burke High School students, at the Kress store in downtown Charleston. As the founding Executive Director of the Charleston Development Academy Public Charter School (CDA), she spent over a decade shaping students' lives and ensuring a quality education for all. The school has received distinguished awards and recognition, such as the South Carolina Department of Education's Palmetto Gold Achievement Award.
Mrs. Rogers is a strong advocate for encouraging and motivating children, young people, and adults to pursue educational excellence.
We proudly present Mrs. Rogers as the 2024 Danielle Hope Watson Commitment to Justice Award Honoree! Proceeds support the Center’s work to protect heirs’ property and promote sustainable land through increased economic benefit to low wealth, historically underserved families.
