We're participating in DogFest Washington to honor Redford, our amazing "change of career" dog who was released from service as a puppy and joined us six years ago. For the past six years, Redford has enjoyed his alternative career, enriching the lives of hundreds of children at Ali's elementary school as a part-time therapy dog. He spends his days in the classroom, helping countless students connect with their peers, focus on their studies, deal with traumas, and more. His work there emphasizes for us the tremendous impact fully trained service dogs can have for individuals with disabilities, offering companionship and skilled service to enable their participation in the world.

Redford was recently diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, a blood vessel cancer. He's undergoing an experimental immunothrerapy treatment, but there is no cure. Our vet says we probably only have 6-12 months left with him, so we're going to pack as much as possible into that time.

Please help us honor Redford by contributing to Canine Companions and their mission to provide expertly trained service dogs to adults, children, and veterans with disabilities FREE of charge. Every little bit helps us reach our Team Redford goal.
