Melanie Bunn, RN, MS, GNP
Melanie Bunn is Dementia Training Specialist for Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, Consulting Associate at the Duke University School of Nursing, and Trainer, Positive Approach to Care. Ms. Bunn also leads her consulting company, Bunn Consulting.
Ms. Bunn received her undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, her Master’s degree in Family Health Nursing from Clemson University and a Post-Master’s Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Duke University.
She is a skilled and experienced advanced practice nurse and nurse educator, conducting over 200 national and international presentations and trainings annually to health professionals, community organizations, first responders, families and other groups focused on the care and needs of people living with dementia and their families. She was part of the award winning Accepting the Challenge DVD with Teepa Snow and is now working on the streaming version.
Melanie's training is based on adult learning styles and is very interactive. Her down-to-earth presentations and role play help those learing about dementia better understand how to interact, communicate, and become care partners instead of just care givers.
Michael Patterson, CDP
Michael Patterson is a highly motivated coach and family caregiver specialist with 10+ years of experience working with Area Agencies on Aging. Michael works with individuals, groups, and organizations to empower them with the resources, self-care tools, and skills building to become the best version of themselves. Michael also serves as a Certified Dementia practitioner, Tai Chi, and Meditation wellness instructor.
