On July 9, 2019 sweet Landon David Stewart came into this world. He was a miracle baby from the moment he was conceived. Jim and Cyndee, his parents, struggled to get pregnant and decided to go through the process of In Vitro. They had 5 embryos, 4 girls and 1 boy. They were blessed with their beautiful daughter Adalyn and later tried for their son. Sadly, the embryo was unsuccessful and they lost the baby. They thought that this was their last hope for a little boy, but miraculously Landon was conceived naturally. Jim kept Landon’s gender a secret to surprise our family, but we just knew he was a boy. He was the most perfect baby. But shortly after he was born, we learned that he had a Congenital Heart Defect and he was life flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital. Landon went into open heart surgery at 3 days old. The hope was to repair the issue, but when that couldn’t happen, Landon underwent some pretty serious heart surgery. The doctors at Primary Children’s Hospital did the best they could to save little Landon. As he was recovering, the doctors, his parents, and our family and loved ones thought he was healing and he was going to be ok. Then suddenly, only 9 days after he was born, he went into cardiac arrest and tragically passed away. The loss of this sweet boy was so incredibly heartbreaking to all of us, especially his dear parents. I can’t imagine the pain and brokenness they feel every moment that passes without their beautiful son in their arms, as our family is so deeply disheartened ourselves.
Our hope is that Jim, Cyndee, and Landon’s sweet sister, Adalyn and now his new sweet sister Jocelyn, will begin to heal and find comfort a little more each day as they see the difference their little heart angel has made, year after year. His life has made the path for those who wouldn’t have had a chance of living. Sweet Landon is a hero in the hearts of all who knew him and a hero in the hearts of all the lives he will save.
Our passion to fund Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) research is where our focus is. Because of the difference Landon’s life is making, a peace can flow through the hearts of our family. Landon’s legacy of hope, love and longevity for the countless lives of other heart warriors and their families will grow and carry on forever. May we honor Landon and his legacy with gratefulness and keep him alive by celebrating the light he has brought to the world and continues to bring thereafter.
