I was 33 when my hand started shaking. It would take a full year bouncing from my primary care physician and different neurologists and specialists to receive a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis. I found out over the phone from an office worker. It was shocking to say the least because I really didn’t know much about Parkinson’s. Only about 10 to 20 percent of Parkinson’s diagnoses are early onset, meaning the person is diagnosed before the age of 50. A neurodegenerative brain disorder that can result in rigidity, slowness of movement and tremors, not as much is known about the long-term effects of an early onset diagnosis. When I was diagnosed, I was 34. Now I am 43 and working to upgrade Team Clark with apparel and use this opportunity to raise funds for two foundations, each dedicated to a different side of the disease.
