Ending up in the ICU and my baby getting carted off to the NICU were certainly not a part of my birth plan. Preeclampsia with the complication of pulmonary edema that I experienced is not something anybody else should have to go through. While I am eternally grateful to the high quality, life saving care recieved by the doctors and nurses as my situation deteriorated so quickly, the emotional scars that persist after such a tramatic experience are ones you carry with you for the rest of your life. I constantly pray we find answers, so that my daughters, nieces, and all others who carry children in the future will have a truly proper treatment aside from early delivery. It should not have to be like this, and the Preeclampsia Foundation tirelessly works to make this prayer a reality.
