Why I love Veritas!

Hello there! Thanks for taking some time out of your day to check out my page!

Veritas is a holy school set apart by its wide variety of academic opportunity and application, warm and welcoming environment fueled by its students and teachers, and purposeful goal of spreading the word of Jesus throughout the world through academics and fellowship!

Not enough information? I'll explain.

I came to Veritas in 5th grade, 2 years ago, scared and uncertain. I had steadily become more introverted in the year and a half before I came here because of the pandemic which had directed the path of my learning to Zoom, cutting off many direct social relations.

The moment I stepped into Veritas, I was quickly welcomed by a community proven to be welcoming and loving. They were genuinely interested in my life and opinions, and really cared about my feelings. Additionally, the teachers provided great to talk to- as in this school, fellowship is a core part of it, and everyone is part of the community (even Winnie, our headmaster's cute dog). The people here are what really set Veritas apart, making the experience here truly wonderful and giving you a reason to get up in the morning, and not just to go to school.

Additionally, the academic opportunities are astronomical and really challenge you. At Veritas, we learn by doing, and we do this in fellowship. A few activities that we have done in class include learning centers, where we formulate into groups and examine different documents, dissections- this is pretty self-explanatory, and is really fun and informational (just make sure to where a mask to protect yourself from the stench), and escape rooms, in which we apply information learned to figure out a code or conclusion. We also have an annual overnight academic trip every year for each grade, which is always a pleasant experience for bonding and seeing information studied being put into play. Trips include NYC (5th grade), Acadia (6th grade), Key Largo, Florida (7th), and DC (8th). Additionally, the teachers are very assertive and spend extra time outside of class to help you truly understand material. Competitions include a Robotics Competition in which the team took 1st in regionals, a national engineering competition in which some 8th graders and alum took 5th and 3rd place in a highly competitive field, respectively, and a rigorous Math Competition in which 12 students from Veritas proceeded to nationals. The common element in all things we study here is a) learning to understand, and learning to find applications and purpose, and b) welcoming ideas and questions.

Ok, you might be asking: "Isn't this a Christian school? I can see Christian values described here, but can you describe more about spiritualality here?"

I couldn't have forgotten.

Every day at Veritas, we have a 25 minute devotion in which we take some time to talk and then analyze scripture and connect it to our lives. On Thursdays, we have a 45-minute immersive chapel in which a speaker talks to the entire school about God, and also has devotions and church music that the students participate in. We have Bible class for 5th and 6th graders, Apologetics (which is all about wrestling with Christianity and defending your faith) and Faith in Action for 7th and 8th graders. Many of our classes have some sort of connection to application to God's word, and we are constantly striving to glorify God through academics and social time. Veritas has a strong spiritual environment designated to draw you closer to God and recognize yourself in a Christian community.

By the time now, I wake up every morning from Monday to Friday, energetic and excited, with the knowledge that I can walk into the doors of a particular brick building in which I am known and loved, and in which I can immerse myself into a friendly environment where everything we learn has a purpose we can use to glorify God.

Veritas is such a wonderful school and I could talk for a long, long time about every single thing that amazes me about it from its diverse, loving and kind community to its academics designated to help you understand and apply in order to glorify God.

Please donate so we can open a new campus by 2025 so we have more room for people to enroll and enjoy this experience, which I guarantee will be similar for everyone.

May your day be full of smiles and happy thoughts,

from Jayden
