Title: Advertising Czar
Goal: $1,000
Why I am Participating:
We can make a big difference in this world when we use marketing, messaging, and advertising for good. As a son of a breast cancer survivor, a husband, father, and grandfather, supporting the efforts of the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation is important to me. Though reluctant at first when asked, I decided I wanted to help so I’m putting on the pink. 15 years ago, I founded 5Points Creative, a leading regional advertising agency and marketing firm. Through the years we’ve supported dozens of nonprofits who make a huge difference – including VBCF. I’m a founding board member of The Help Save The Next Girl Foundation and of The Spot on Kirk in Downtown Roanoke and I do what I can to make our community better and stronger. We don’t give to get back, but it does seem to work that way. When I’m not doing volunteer work, I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with my wife Laurel, our friends, our kids, and our six grandchildren. I’ve also just come to grips with the fact that I’m done with basketball and about to pick up pickleball as my senior sport of choice…

What is a Sole Star?
The Sole Stars campaign engages leaders in our communities as representatives in the fight against breast cancer. During the month-long campaign, each Sole Star will raise or give a minimum of $1,000, which will be used to support the work of the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (VBCF.) The money raised through the Roanoke Sole Stars campaign will pay for breast health services like diagnostic mammograms, MRIs, ultrasounds and biopsies for uninsured and underinsured women in Southwest Virginia.
