Founded in San Antonio on October 6, 1945, by twenty-seven dedicated educators, the Alpha Phi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. continues a proud tradition of excellence and service. As part of the national organization, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.—a historically African American Greek-letter organization established on November 12, 1922, at Butler University by seven visionary educators—we are deeply committed to our community.
Our mission is to enhance the quality of life through public service, leadership development, and youth education. We embody our motto, "Greater Service, Greater Progress," by empowering the next generation through education and community support.
