Welcome to my fundraising page!
Hello, my name is Mary Jane Scott! I am a recently retired Nurse after 45 years of service, including teaching at MGHIHP School of Nursing in Boston for 8 years. I mentored over 1,000 nurses to pass their Nursing licensure exams. I owned my own business, MJS Tutoring, for 45 years, teaching and remediating nursing students with nursing content and their NCLEX exam.
Thank you all so much to everyone who joined us for my walk on Saturday, May 4th, 2024. We did a 2-mile Walk at Castle Island. I am proud to lead the way to a world without Pulmonary Fibrosis. I hope donations to the PFF will increase awareness and research opportunities to find a cure. I have raised $4,734.42 and donated it to the PFF. Currently, there is no cure - only 2 FDA meds are available to prevent new lung scarring. Let's help find a cure for Pulmonary Fibrosis. I chose Castle Island for the walk as this is where my parents and their parents grew up. We have taken many family walks here in the past, including my mother even during her chemo treatments, my son Drew as a child in his stroller, and my sisters and cousins too. The Castle Island Community Walk was my first walk with my grandson Ryan. It is all about making a difference for the PFF and creating positive memories. Let's Go, Team MJ!

Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a condition that causes lung tissue to become thickened, stiff, and scarred. The lungs eventually lose their ability to transfer oxygen into the bloodstream, making everyday activities such as breathing and walking extremely difficult. It is a progressive disease, which means it tends to worsen over time. Every individual diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis has a unique experience with the disease, and there is no “standard” or expected clinical course. With no known cure, the disease is often fatal within three to five years of diagnosis. There are over 250,000 Americans living with PF today. Approximately 50,000 new cases are diagnosed each year.
Because of the work of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF), there is hope for those living with PF. Funds raised will support the PFF’s efforts to accelerate research, advance improved care for those living with the disease, and provide unequaled support and education resources for patients, caregivers, family members, and healthcare providers.
But we can't do this without you! Only with your support can we keep the PFF's mission active. Please click the "Donate" button to make your gift today. Thank you in advance for your generous support!
