2024 Team Resilience

I have chosen to run the Chicago Matathon this fall in support of Erika's Lighthouse, a non profit organization that is determined to make sure no young person feels alone in their depression.

When you fundraise for a charity, you pay for your race fees, your travel and for yourself to attend the race. You then fundraise for the chosen charity in addition to any expenses for the actual marathon itself.

I chose Erika's Lighthouse as the organization to fundraise for as depression, anxiety and suicide are at an alarmingly high rate right now. This is deeply concerning to me and I have a personal investment in mental health and suicide awareness. I have had family members battle with depression, anxiety and contemplate suicide.

Erikas Lighthouse is an organization dedicated to creating a community of empathy and education. They have created elementary school, junior and senior high school teen depression awareness programs so educators and teens can create safe spaces to learn about depression, letting students know they are never alone, and there is somewhere to turn. These programs are provided free of charge to schools in Canada, the US and many other countries around the world. If you desire to provide your school with the information for these programs, please ask! I am happy to help.
