Team Eye of the Tiger for Dementia Alliance of North Carolina!
Statistics don't do justice to what family caregivers of those living with dementia go through every day.
Its a known fact that there are over 180,000 people living with Dementia in North Carolina and these numbers are expected to increase to 210,000 by next year 2025. Caregivers for individuals with dementia are a rapidly growing sector of our older population. In NC, an estimated 358,000 dementia caregivers are providing 517 million hours of unpaid care each year.
Dementia Alliance of North Carolina focuses all their efforts locally and offer insight, compassionate support, and assistance to those who are living with or caring for individuals throughout all stages and types of dementia.
As a volunteer Dementia Alliance Support Group facilitator, I support the leader of a group with about 20 family caregivers, while hosting a coffee hangout for men living with dementia.
I am fundraising for each caregiver and their family at this year's Tuna 200 (a 200 mile x 12 runner relay from Garner to Atlantic Beach NC). Will you join me in supporting caregivers and those living with dementia?
