I became a cancer patient when my July 2021 routine screening mammogram caught very early stage breast cancer. I was lucky. A lumpectomy got it all and I did not require any further physical treatment other than a daily dose of Arimidex and routine scans. I'm doing really well, physically. Mentally, though, it is a completely different game. You see, my Mom suffered from breast cancer in the late 70s/early 80s and she lost her battle just after my high school graduation. My own diagnosis instantly brought me back to my Mom's journey and I was terrifed. My cancer team directed me to Wellness House, which calms my fears and shows me that my journey isn't my Mom's. I am able to receive individual and group support, and Andrew is able to receive any support he needs, at no cost to us. Wellness House provides complete cancer care - every step of the way. Whether you have cancer, or you are caring for a friend or family member who is diagnosed with cancer, all are welcome at Wellness House. More than 520 programs are provided each month, both online and in person, to improve physical and emotional well-being and give people with cancer a support network like no other. 

Almost 3 years later I am doing well in my cancer journey, and I'm doing whatever I can to help support Wellness House so that they can help others like they helped me. Because of the Walk, and the generous donations of individuals and businesses, everything at Wellness House is provided to me and so many others free of charge, providing one less thing to worry about when struggling with cancer.
