My family and I are walking again this year! My father had severe hemophilia and he was not expected to live into adulthood. However, my father lived to be 50 and showed us the true power of optimism. Those who were lucky enough to know my dad saw his outgoing, welcoming personaltiy and sense of humor. He never let his disease define him! He even participated in experimental treatments in the hope of helping others. In my heart, I believe that his actions led to discoveries that made this disease more manageable today. We will walk and we will share stories, so that my children and grandchildren will know the remarkable man that they didn't meet. We are also walking to raise funds to help send children with bleeding disorders to Camp Boggy Creek, to help families offset the cost of this disease, and to support research.
