Putting books in the hands of kids who need them most!
I'm fundraising for Page Ahead's A Taste for Reading benefit luncheon to help build home libraries for Washington kids who really need them. If you know me, you know that this cause has been extremely important to me for many years. I had a really fortunate upbringing when it came to books and reading - my family read difficult books together often, and I had all the books I could ever want. Reading was encouraged in our house and my literacy skills developed rapidly. I always felt that this environment gave me somewhat of a leg up as a student from childhood onwards - I was more than capable of comprehending, learning, and growing. But there are so many children in WA that don't have that same chance today, and that's why Page Ahead's work is so important to me. I'm fundraising to help build home libraries for Washington kids who really need them. Providing these kids with books that they are excited about, that they can keep forever, will make a difference! Literacy is a major predictor of life success, so giving these kids a leg up really helps level the playing field in so many ways.
Please join me at the luncheon on April 30 at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, or consider making a gift now. Together, we can give EVERY kid the chance to read!
