Name of your favorite teacher and what made the person special to you: My sixth-grade teacher, Mr. Farver, was one of the most influential teachers in my life. During my time in a teacher preparation program, I often thought of him as the kind of educator I aspired to become. He was the first teacher I truly felt I knew as a person - someone who shared stories about his wife and children and who took the time to connect with each of us individually. His genuine care and personal approach left a lasting impression on me.
What were some of your most enjoyable times in school? Reflecting back on my most enjoyable time in school, I recognize that it wasn't defined by stellar grades or grand social events but rather by the quiet, meaningful moments that imbued every day with purpose. It was the shared laughter with close friends during lunch, and the unexpected encouragement from a teacher who believed in me when I doubted myself. These seemingly small experiences created a sense of belonging and connection that left a lasting impact. They reminded me that fulfillment often comes not from accolades or attention, but from the relationships we build and the authenticity we bring to our everyday lives.
Looking back over the years, what advice would you give to your high school self or college self? Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. College is the perfect time to try new experiences, meet new people, and discover passions you didn't even know you had. Take the class that sounds interesting, join the club that feels a little intimidating, and volunteer for opportunities that challenge you. Growth happens when you're willing to put yourself out there, even if it feels uncomfortable at first. Trust yourself - the risks you take now will shape your confidence and open doors you can't even imagine yet.

Anything else you would like to share or highlight: My husband and I have become increasingly involved with the Gay Community Endowment Fund (GCEF), particularly through one of their major fundraisers, the Sugar Plum Tour. In 2022, we opened our home for the Sugar Plum Tour of Holiday Homes, and the experience was truly incredible. Since then, we've remained actively engaged and now host the volunteer breakfast each year.
