In a few sentences, describe your connection to U2FP, why you chose to run in support of U2FP, and whether you have a personal connection to spinal cord injury and paralysis:
Last year I had a stroke and temporarily lost the use of my right arm and leg. Although this is different than a spinal cord injury, I can relate to having a sudden, life-altering change in health. I was fortunate and was able to regain function over time. Supporting a cause like U2FP can help raise awareness and funding to make advancements in research for spinal cord injury and paralysis treatments.
Is this your first marathon/race? If not, what others have you completed?
I have completed the Houston Marathon (x2), The Woodlands Marathon, and The Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon. I’ve also completed Ironman Texas (x3).
What do you crave after a long run?
Pizza!
Do you listen to anything when you train or race? If yes, what?
Podcasts or fun music for long runs, fast music for track sessions, and I love hearing the crowd on race day.
What are you most excited and/or nervous about for the marathon?
I’m most excited about running the Chicago marathon with my wife, Lauren. I’m most nervous about the last 6 miles—that can certainly get challenging!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love playing Chess, walking our 12-year-old golden retriever named Sally, and watching my kids play soccer.
