I'm raising money for Unite 2 Fight Paralysis!

Pronouns: He/Him
City: Minneapolis
Profession: Breathworker and Entrepreneur
Fundraising Goal: $1,750
Race Goal: 3:10:00

In a few sentences, describe your connection to U2FP, why you chose to run in support of U2FP, and whether you have a personal connection to spinal cord injury and paralysis:
I got back into marathon running last year while starting my own business around breathwork, sauna, and cold exposure. Quickly I realized that I wanted more from my runs than simply chasing PRs. I was introduced to U2FP by Lucia, who works full time for the organization and began helping me out with my sauna at Lake Nokomis here in Minneapolis. Lucia spoke passionately about U2FP and the opportunity to run for the cause. I’m excited to raise money for an organization that focuses on research and bringing awareness to spinal injury. Very happy to be on the Team!

Is this your first marathon/race? If not, what others have you completed?
I’ve done several in Minnesota, including the Twin Cities and Grandma’s. I’m still no pro.

What do you crave after a long run?
A sauna and a cold bath (and cold beer)

Do you listen to anything when you train or race? If yes, what?
Of course…my mindfulness practice isn’t that good yet! I listen to a mix of 80’s pop (I somehow have really gotten into The Pointer Sisters) and music from my college years, like The Hold Steady, Wolfmother, and Atmosphere. Doesn’t everyone want to feel hip and young while they run?

What are you most excited and/or nervous about for the marathon?
Chicago is an old stomping ground, so I’m excited to return. I’m also excited about how the marathon will be pulsating with all the spectators and other runners. I’m mostly nervous about the logistics of getting to the start line!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Building things out of wood, reading long books of fiction, letting my daughter paint my nails, and be schooled by my son in Mille Bornes. Is running a dumb answer?

Anything else you’d like to share?
Give me your money, please.
